Mark 12:6-12
Today we are reading Mark 12.
As we read, these verses stood out to me:
Mark 12:6-12 - He had one more to send, a beloved son; he sent him last of all to them, saying, ‘They will respect my son.’ 7 But those vine-growers said to one another, ‘This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and the inheritance will be ours!’ 8 They took him, and killed him and threw him out of the vineyard. 9 What will the owner of the vineyard do? He will come and destroy the vine-growers, and will give the vineyard to others. 10 Have you not even read this Scripture: ‘The stone which the builders rejected, This became the chief corner stone; 11 This came about from the Lord, And it is marvelous in our eyes’?”

You can share anything that is on your heart but, if you don't know where to start, try reading these verses and answering one or more of the following "Honest Questions"
Honest Questions
1. Did you find any part of this chapter mysterious? If so what? How would you put that mystery into a question, a series of questions, a short message, or a live video?
2. Please, read Mark 12:1-12, sit quietly, pray, and think about the message of this parable. What words, thoughts, emotions, dreams, or responses well up in you as you spend this time with the Lord?
3. Do we speak enough about the "beloved son of God?" As I write this question I am reminded of the song, "I could sing of your love forever." I will put a copy of it in the comment section later. What songs remind you of the beloved son of God?
4. Have you ever studied world religions? If so, what are some of the unique attributes given to Jesus in Christianity?
5. What happens to Christianity if we make it more about us than Jesus?
6. In what ways have you aligned the way you live your life to the claims of scripture related to Jesus? (Who's kingdom are we building? Who's vineyard are we working in? For who's glory are we working? What sort of rewards should we expect for our labor? Are those rewards given to all people? If not, what sort of people should we be?)
7. As I read Mark 12:41-44, I was comforted by the thought that Jesus is watching me give whatever I give no matter how big or how small. Why do you give what you give to the Lord? Do you think those offerings are something that pleases Him, disappoints Him, or do you think He is indifferent regarding the gifts we give?
8. Have you ever thought about God being represented by the little widow woman who gave all that she had as an offering to the Lord? Is that thought offensive or disrespectful in any way? How should we speak of the sacrifice God made? What words could we use or what actions could we take to tell the world of His generosity?
9. What was your favorite verse in Mark 12 and why?
10. Do you have any specific questions or prayer requests after reading Mark 12?
