Psalm 20:4-7

Today we are reading Psalm 20.
As we read, these verses stood out to me:

Psalm 20:4-7 -May He grant you your heart’s desire And fulfill your whole plan! 5 We will sing for joy over your victory, And in the name of our God we will set up our banners. May the Lord fulfill all your desires. 6 Now I know that the Lord saves His anointed; He will answer him from His holy heaven With the saving strength of His right hand. 7 Some praise their chariots and some their horses, But we will praise the name of the Lord, our God.

Please, take some time to Share Your Thoughts with Us as they relate to this passage.

You can share anything that is on your heart but, if you don't know where to start, try reading these verses and answering one or more of the following "Honest Questions."

Honest Questions

1. If you could have anything you want, what would it be and why?

2. Do you think of yourself as a planner? What do you like most and least about this aspect of your personality?

3. If God were to "fulfill your whole plan" how would that impact the world around you?

4. Today, look for an opportunity to celebrate the success of someone you know. How can you do that? Is there anything that would prevent you from trying?

5. When was the last time you saw God at work in you personal circumstances?

6. Compare Psalm 20:6 with Isaiah 53:1. Do you believe God has the ability to act on behalf of people and intervene in their everyday circumstances? If so, do you think He wants us to ask Him for that sort of help?

7. Read Psalm 20:7. We don't really use chariots anymore and not very many of us have horses; so, what words could we use to give this sentence a more contemporary flavor? Should I even ask you to consider doing something like that? Why or why not?

8. This week I have been thinking about the age of some of the songs we sing. I wonder, what would it be like to write a song that people still sing 200 years after you wrote it? Would you like to be used by God in that way? If so, what can we do to help encourage you in your song writing process?

9. What is was your favorite verse in Psalm 20 and why?

10. Do you have any specific questions or prayer requests after reading Psalm 20?
