Today we are reading 1 Peter 1.
As we read, these verses stood out to me:

1 Peter 1:17-21 - If you address as Father the One who impartially judges according to each one’s work, conduct yourselves in fear during the time of your stay on earth; 18 knowing that you were not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your futile way of life inherited from your forefathers, 19 but with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ. 20 For He was foreknown before the foundation of the world, but has appeared in these last times for the sake of you 21 who through Him are believers in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.

Please, take some time to Share Your Thoughts With Us as they relate to this passage.

You can share anything that is on your heart but, if you don't know where to start, try reading these verses and answering one or more of the following "Honest Questions."

Honest Questions

1. Which of the 12 Apostles do you enjoy reading most? Why?

2. When you think about the life of Peter, what are some of the highlights that stick out in your memory?

3. When you read the books of the Bible do you think of them as being written by someone older or younger than you? Why? Does it matter? Why or why not?

4. The book of 1 Peter was written to a community of believers that had been scattered throughout a geographical area about the size of Montana. There are 5 regions mentioned in the introduction. Is it possible that our expressions of faith are better expressed when we are at least hearing stories from believers in communities other than our own?

5. How frequently do you have someone from outside of your congregation speak into your congregation?

6. Four sections of 1 Peter stood out to me as I read, verses 3-9, verses 10-16, verses 17-21, and verses 22-25. Of those segments, which one speaks most directly to your heart at this time?

7. Read 1 Peter 1:17-21. At what point in your life did you start referring to God as your Father? Is that something that comes natural for you or has it been a struggle for you to think of God in those terms?

8. Take a moment to remember and even imagine the events surrounding the trial, execution, and burial of Jesus this morning. Would you be willing to talk to at least one person this week about the way the Christ's death has impacted your life?

9. What is was your favorite verse in 1 Peter 1 and why?

10. Do you have any specific questions or prayer requests after reading 1 Peter 1?
