Today we are reading Mark 15.
As we read, these verses stood out to me:

Mark 15:43-46 - 43 Joseph of Arimathea came, a prominent member of the Council, who himself was waiting for the kingdom of God; and he gathered up courage and went in before Pilate, and asked for the body of Jesus. 44 Pilate wondered if He was dead by this time, and summoning the centurion, he questioned him as to whether He was already dead. 45 And ascertaining this from the centurion, he granted the body to Joseph. 46 Joseph bought a linen cloth, took Him down, wrapped Him in the linen cloth and laid Him in a tomb which had been hewn out in the rock; and he rolled a stone against the entrance of the tomb.

Honest Questions

1. As I read Mark 15, Jesus' answer to Pilate's question, "Are you thing King of the Jews" resonates with me. When you think about His answer, what other passages of scripture come to your mind?

2. If someone were to ask you why Jesus claimed to be the King of the Jews what would you tell them?

3. How do you think Pilate would have responded if Jesus would have said something like, "Yes, Pilate. I am the King of the Jews but, I am the King of the Romans, the Egyptians, and the Han's Dynasty as well?

4. Mark 15:43 states that Joseph of Arimathea was "waiting for the kingdom of God" is that something we are still waiting for or is it something that has already been established?

5. Describe the last time you had to work up the courage to act on something related to your faith in or love for Jesus?

6. In the comment section below I placed some paintings of Christ crucified. God used a painting like this to bring me to repentance. How were you first drawn to the Lord by His Holy Spirit?

7. Joseph of Arimathea had Jesus's body placed in a tomb that was already prepared to receive a body. What sort of preparation have you made for the end of your life/burial? Have you talked with your family about your final wishes, have you written a will, do you have a life insurance policy for each member of your family, have you purchased a prepaid burial policy? Why do you think people don't like to talk about stuff like this?

8. In the comment section below and on School of The Word public page, I placed a link to a YouTube video of one of my favorite songs about the crucifixion. Will you post a link to one of your favorite songs inspired by the death of Jesus?
