Psalm 22:27-31

12 10 2020 Psalm 22 27 thru 31.jpg

Today we are reading Psalm 22.
As we read, these verses stood out to me:

Psalm 22:27-31 - All the ends of the earth will remember and turn to the Lord, And all the families of the nations will worship before You. 28 For the kingdom is the Lord’s And He rules over the nations. 29 All the prosperous of the earth will eat and worship, All those who go down to the dust will kneel before Him, Even he who cannot keep his soul alive. 30 A posterity will serve Him; It will be told of the Lord to the coming generation. 31 They will come and will declare His righteousness To a people who will be born, that He has performed it.

Honest Questions

1. Sometimes it is easy for us to forget that God is in control and that His name will be praised by all people. What is one thing we can do to remind ourselves and people around us about God's goodness?

2. Would you be willing to take some time to pray for the world and ask the Spirit of God to move in such a way that people everywhere will "turn to Him" and remember the sacrifice Christ made on the cross.

3. Read Psalm 22:29. How does this phrase strike you, "All the prosperous of the earth will eat and worship"?

4. Compare Psalm 22:29 with Philippians 2:9-11, Job 19:25-27 Matthew 5:8, and Hebrews 11:8-10. Are you currently "looking" for God or some aspect of His Kingdom? What "instruments" do you use to look for the Lord? How can we see Him who is invisible?

5. Do you think of God as the one who rules over the nations? Does that phrase apply to all nations or only to those nations that acknowledge His Lordship?

6. Read Psalm 22:30. When it says "a posterity will serve Him" it means future generations will serve Him. Do you look forward to seeing the way God will work through people who are younger than you? Are you ready to help them do what God is calling them to do in their generation?

7. If you were to mentor people that are 20-40 years younger than you, where would you go to interact with them? How would you introduce yourself and what sort of service or expertise could you offer them?

8. Have you ever had the privilege of hearing your children or grandchildren "declare His righteousness"? How and when did it happen? How did it make you feel when you saw/heard it?

9. What is was your favorite verse in Psalm 22 and why?

10. Do you have any specific questions or prayer requests after reading Psalm 22?
