Romans 10:11-15

Today we are reading Romans 10.

As we read, these verses stood out to me:

Romans 10:11-15 - For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes in Him will not be put to shame.” 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who call on Him; 13 for “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” 14 How then are they to call on Him in whom they have not believed? How are they to believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how are they to hear without a preacher? 15 But how are they to preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news of good things!”

Honest Questions

1. Read Romans 10:1-2. Ask God to remind you of a person or a people group that need you to consistently pray for their salvation.

2. Please, take a little time to pray for for people who practice their religion differently than you do. As you prayed, what came to mind?

3. Read Romans 10:3-4. When you think about God what are some of the descriptive words that first come to mind? Would righteous consistently make your list? Why or why not?

4. If we are not to seek a righteousness of our own, what should our practice of religion look like?

5. Read Romans 10:6-7. Could a person rephrase those verses like this, "the righteousness based on faith sounds like this: 'you don't have to be a superhuman getting all things right to be saved. That would be ignoring the fact that Jesus is God's pure and spotless sacrificial lamb. Neither does it help for you to be masochist, beating yourself up all the time. That would be to reject God's love for you and to deny the punishment he took on our behalf. Instead of focusing on yourself and the things you have done or not done, fix your eyes upon Jesus telling yourself and others about the things He has done on our behalf." Respond.

6. Read Romans 10:6-7. Could a person summarize this concept by saying, "Salvation is not dependent upon you becoming the hero of the story. Jesus is the hero of this story. However, even though you are not the hero of the story, you have an important role to play. Your part is too familiarize yourself with the story of Jesus and to tell people who have never heard about Him. Respond.

7. Do you believe that every individual is given an opportunity to be saved or is the opportunity for people to be saved dependent upon someone presenting the Gospel to them? Why do you believe that?

8. Read Romans 10:14-15. Would you be willing to tell someone about Jesus this week? If so, where will you go and who will you tell?

9. What was your favorite part of Romans 10? Please, explain.

10. Do you have any specific questions or prayer requests after reading Romans 10?
