Today we are reading Romans 11.

As we read, these verses stood out to me:

Romans 11:32-36 - For God has shut up all in disobedience, so that He may show mercy to all. 33 Oh, the depth of the riches, both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and unfathomable His ways! 34 For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who became His counselor? 35 Or who has first given to Him, that it would be paid back to him? 36 For from Him, and through Him, and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever. Amen.

You can share anything that is on your heart but, if you don't know where to start, try reading these verses and answering one or more of the following "Honest Questions."

Honest Questions

1. When you read a passage like Romans 10 or Romans 11 do you tend to focus on the things you agree with or the things you disagree with?

2. How do you respond when you read something in Scripture that seems to contradict a belief you hold dear?

3. What do you like most or dislike most about the ideas of God's Sovereignty, His election/preservation of a remnant, or predestination?

4. When you think about election or predestination what sort of emotional response does what you know evoke in you?

5. Read Romans 11:2-6. What do you think this passage is trying to teach "all who are beloved of God in Rome, called as saints"? How is that message from God to them applicable to us today?

6. Read Romans 11:14. This verse and verses like it disrupt a train of thought I would personally like to adhere to. I would like to think of everyone in the history of the world falling into one of 2 categories: Jew or Gentile. When I narrow the options to 2 I see many passages that sound like the Cross saves everyone and I would personally like to believe that but, Romans 11:14 helps me to see 4 categories: Believing Jew, Unbelieving Jew, Believing Gentile, Unbelieving Gentile. When I recognize these for categories I must acknowledge that not everyone is a believer. If we really believe that a person must have faith to please God, how would it impact the way we live our lives?

7. Read Romans 11:16-24. How does that align with or conflict with what you have been taught to believe about salvation?

8. After reading Romans 11 would you take some time to join me in an hour or more of worship and prayer? God is both wise, merciful, and glorious! Let's worship Him and thank Him for our salvation.

9. What was your favorite part of Romans 11? Please, explain.

10. Do you have any specific questions or prayer requests after reading Romans 11?
